Help Staff Survey

Spindizzy is a unique place with a lot to offer, at least I think so, and I’m sure many others do as well. Some of you may be aware of the recent beginnings of a volunteer helpstaff team for Spindizzy; it has been quite some time since the muck has had an official helpstaff, instead going under the assumption that we were all here to help each other. I think this is a good assumption and I hope we are. However, some felt a little organization could make everyone’s efforts more useful. The question of whether we needed helpstaff or not was pondered by the lovely wizards of the muck when put to them by Twohart and eventually Two was given the go ahead to form a team. So we’ve started.

What does this mean to you? As little or as much as you would like, I suppose. We would like everyone’s input on what makes a good helpstaffer. What do you see working on other mucks? What would you like a guest to know about this muck? What would you like a new character to know?

Next week, I’ll be taking a survey on these very questions, and this article is just to get you thinking about your answers. So be thinking everythingie. ;) Yours helpfully, The DREAD pirate

Paper's HTML Set Straight

As you see, @Action News has a new look this week. Austin, local Coati and HTML purist finally convinced me to give up Front Page and edit the paper in Notepad. Although it's a lot of hassle, he assures me it will become easier as I go along, and that folks who aren't seeing the paper correctly as it had been posted will see it in lifelike detail now

Although to me it looks a bit plain, I'm going to give this a try. I'd like to know if folks who couldn't see the paper well before can see it better now, and if those who saw it well before can tell the difference. Let me know what you think. And thanks Austin, for all the help!

Break-In Reported

AJ's tailor shop was reported as burglarized this morning when the owner discovered the doors unlocked and damaged and the phone line cut. Further inspection of the store by Neopolis police revealed that the only thing stolen was AJ's small loom used for specialty jobs. Traces of blood and fur (several different types) were discovered on the floor and according to the detective on the scene it appears that a gun had been fired once. AJ could not think of a reason as to why someone would want to steal his loom; he said it was not unusual in any way.

Residents are complaining about what sounds like explosions and construction noise somewhere near the rift. The police say they are not aware of any construction projects going on in the general area, though they have located what appears to be an abandoned, damaged construction site. The building code enforcer says the damaged structure violates several safety standards.

Weekly Survey

Argon asked in this week's survey, "I'm doing a survey to be published in @Action News. The question is, 'Are you looking forward to the new Scooby Doo movie?'

  • Cye says, "I never liked Scooby doo and I'm not going see a movie about that show. I got better things to spend 12 bucks on."
  • Suri says, "No, not really. The previews looked atrocious."
  • PatchO'Black is looking sideways to the Scooby Doo movie!
  • Austin says, "I'm hoping every print of the movie spontaneously bursts into flame before it can be inflicted on anybody."
  • Gino writes "Not really...I have other movies that I want to see."
  • PatchO'Black hopes the movie is better than what he's seen, or that it will quickly be forgotten and they will do a better one later...
  • Drake says, "Me, Argon..... I'm only wanting to see the post - beatnik beatnik Shaggy. I can't care less about the dog. :)"
  • Butterfluff crawls away to be sick.
  • Kilroy squeaks, "Yeah!"
  • Gilead chirps, "I'm sure it's going to be awful, and I won't see it, but I can't say it's ruined cinema for me or anything like that. Ep1 already did that for me."
  • Roofus_roo says, "I would look forward to a root canal, before I'd do so with the Scooby Doo 'film'. At least with a root canal I'm made numb enough not to feel much. I don't think they'll be providing tranqilizers for the movie, though one'd need them."
  • Twine says, "there have already been too many Scooby Doo movies, and my sister owns all of them, so, no"
  • D`saynin gawds! "I want that movie to burn in heck forever."
  • Olivia says, "Not really, but then again, I'm not big on movies, so rarely look forward to any of them."

SED Leader Morticon Provokes Primal Skolf, Chase Ensues

In a recent attempt to corrupt more people to the side of Evil, Morticon made a near fatal mistake when he angered a, recently arrived, skunkwolf, who then went primal and began to hunt him down. The other day SED Overlord Morticon was in the Rose Garden, going about his normal Evil routine of trying to corrupt the good and innocent. However, things weren't looking good when an Evil Elf proclaimed that she would overthrow the wallaby and become the new, and better leader of SED. An argument broke out and hoping to put an end to it, Morticon offered her a cookie.

The skunkwolf, who hasn't been around for questioning, must have been hungry as he took the cookie from Morticon and quickly ate it. He appeared then to ask for another, but he didn't make any sounds. Coming to the quick conclusion that the cookie was bad, he become quite angry with the wallaby. Morticon, realizing his suddenly bad position, used various furs as cover till he found a SED minion and told him to distract the skolf while he ran away.

The attempt, made by Sergo, was futile as the skolf seemed to have lost his mind while gaining new powers in exchange. The skunkwolf easily made it past Sergo and chased after Morticon, who had fled the scene. A few seconds later, Sergo left as well, hot on the trail of the skunkwolf.

This reporter, not wanting to get intangled with the SED or the savage skolf, decided to remain in the garden till someone from the chase could be contacted for questioning. Morticon was the first to be found but gave off a simple, "No Comment."

Sergo, a little more helpful in my search for answers, didn't seem to realize the extent of the trouble the wallaby had gotten himself into. When asked about the chase, his reply was, "I was really worried for Morticon! I had to protect him each time he got into a bad scrape, which was often, because he wasn't armed. It was fun until I couldn't find Morticon anymore, but that was when I met my pet rock! I showed it to Skolf, who sniffed at it a bit, not understanding its great importance!"

Baffled by the folf's comment, this reporter did learn more later when a group encounted the still savage, but now calm, skunkwolf. At the time, those involved were to busy for questioning. This reporter will continue to gather information and update you as events go by. In the near future, I'll hopefully have a chance to talk with the skunkwolf, when he's more sane.

Guidelines and Procedures for Submitting Articles

Submitting a story or artwork for @Action News is easy! Just send it to mailto:newspaper@spindizzy.org or qmail or page Argon about it.

Most any type of story or article will be accepted. Generally, we'd prefer things that aren't out and out lies or flames about other folks, and have a basis in the reality of SpinDizzy. Things that occur in public areas are fair game. The things reported don't have to have actually happened, (any more than anything that happens here does) but make sure you don't overstep the social boundaries and rules of interaction that we have.Ê These are pretty broad guidelines, but we expect good sense to apply.Ê

Thanks!
