Connecting to SpinDizzy through your web browser

Long available but rarely noticed, SpinDizzy can be accessed without a muck client. Although folks often visit via their favorite client on a USB stick if they're not at their home computer, if you find yourself wanting to stop by and your memory stick is someplace other than you are, just go to the SpinDizzy web site and click at the link on the bottom of the navigation bar on the left where it says, "Connect to SpinDizzy through your web browser with this web client."

This will connect you to a Java applet created years ago by someone very clever who's name I can't recall. This will open a real client in your browser. You won't have all your buttons and client based presets, but you'll be able to connect and interact.

So give this a try and see how it works for you!

Town Hall of the Muck -- Thursday

As it's been several months I'd like to take the time to call a fresh Town Hall Meeting. The purpose of this is just to give everyone in the community the chance to talk about what Spindizzy is, what it does well, what it does poorly, and get into bigger, argumentative quarrels with the wizards. As always, attendance is a purely voluntary affair, but one of the things which makes Spindizzy strong is the continuing interest and feedback from everyone here, so please share your thoughts. We'll have one meeting for the morning crew and another for the evening shift, and I know the hours aren't quite convenient for our Europe-based residents but we can't quite spend the whole day in these.

Meeting times will be 8 am and then 8 pm (The editor assumes this will be muck time,) on Thursday, 8 February 2007. We'll meet in the Park of the Day, 'park' from anywhere on the muck.

Boggle Battle!
Coming soon, to a casino near you! Boggle Battle.... Portia vs. Ray! Join us (date to be announced soon) as we see who has the best boggle skills. Because it is a casino, after all, the 'ticket' to the IC event is to place a bet on who will win (Portia or Ray). Those who win the bet will get money, and those who lose will have to pay up (ICly). You can even place a bet if you're unable to attend. Of course, if ICly you are unable to pay up, you may be... paid a visit.

More details soon.

Weekly Survey

Ba'ar

Greetings all, Ba'ar here with the Spindizzy @Action News survey for this week. What is your (IC) dearest dream?

  • Borris growls, "Borris Gruffs, "To Open a Fried Penguin Stand!"
  • Ping squeaks, "My answer to the survey. A really, really, really big block of cheese. And a place to put it."
  • Argon says, "My dream is to meet a beautiful, intelligent, clever, resourceful, loving, funny, romatic female centaur who can put up with me. Oh wait, I already have! Her name is Mavra!"
  • Juxtapose says, "Absolution, amicability, altruism and alliteration for all animals around."
  • Barbarabelle says, "Why to beat Vixie and become the cutest of all of course."
  • Findra says, "My dearest dream would be to open a hospital where I can treat all the folks on SpinDizzy who get sick or hurt."
  • PatchO'Black mews, "To love and be loved in return."
  • Gilead chirps, "To crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of their women, that and eat all their fish."
  • Than giggles "My dearest dream is a place with lotsa taurs an' horsies an' doggies I can ride, an' lotsa 'roo-pouchies I can ride in! But... SpinDizzy like that... So I guess this place like my dream! ...'Cept there no horsies"

Want to contribute to @Action News?

Got something that you'd like to contribute to @Action News, but aren't sure if you should, or how to do it? Just get in touch with any of Argon, Ba'ar, Skyler, or Findra, and they'll be happy to help! Here are some basic guidelines, though.

Contributing a story or artwork for @Action News is easy! Just send it to newspaper@spindizzy.org, or qmail/pagemail Argon, Findra, Skyler, or Ba'ar with your article!

  • @Action News is published weekly on or after 9:00pm Pacific/SpinDizzy time on Saturdays.
  • Articles received after 8:00am Pacific time on Saturday may be published in the next edition of @Action News.
  • Most any type of story or article of interest to SpinDizzy's newspaper readers will be accepted. Generally, we'd prefer things that aren't out and out lies or flames about other folks, and have a basis in the reality of SpinDizzy.
  • Things that occur in public areas are fair game.
  • The things reported don't have to have actually happened, (any more than anything that happens here does) but make sure you don't overstep the social boundaries and rules of interaction that we have.

These are pretty broad guidelines, but we expect good sense to apply.

Thanks!
