SpinDizzy Residents Celebrate Guy Fawkes Day

Burning Guy's EffigyThe night of November 5th was certainly a time of celebration in the Rose Garden. SpinDizzy inhabitants celebrated Guy Fawkes day with music, fire, and explosions.

For those who don't know, Guy Fawkes was involved in a plan to blow up the English Parliament on Novermber 5th, 1603, the day King James II was to open Parliament. It was intended to be the beginning of a great uprising of English Catholics, who were distressed by the increased severity of penal laws against the practice of their religion. Nowadays, the common practice in England is to burn effigies of Guy Fawkes and set off firecrackers.

The festivities began at 6:30 PM, Muck time. The effigy was set up in the middle of the Rose Garden as furs gathered various explosive devices. One last look was taken at the spectacular effigy before an orchestra was cued to play the "1812 Overture", and Adara, local morphing Feline and judge, shot a pistol to signal the begining of the fun. Butterfluff, local ball of fluff, began by lighting explosives in mortar. Gilead, local Otter followed, placing dry ice into 50 mL centrifuge tubes with some acid on the effigy. Ringo, local unknown, then lit a van on fire, and Stripes, local male anthropomorphic Tiger, tossed some grenades. Other participants included Suri, local Lemur, Adara, Tanuki, local unknown , and Effsey, local Fox.

From there, the celebration took a quieter turn, where furs talked, and just celebrated the fact that parlament had not been blown to smithereens. *~*

Fly Story

Fly .gif

A horrible incident that happened on Wednesday has been all the "buzz" in Spindizzy. The trouble began when Carlos, local male morphing clam ,gathered some fruit and put it on top of PatchO'Black, local Jellicle Cat's head. A swarm of flies entered the scene, and proceeded to attack Patch. Boki, local Seagull, came to the rescue by consuming all of the flies. The angry flies retreated, saying at the top of their tiny voices "We shall have revenge!".

Revenge was taken when the flies returned, and together took the form of a human hand to beat Boki with a stick and push him into the fountain. Soon, all the flies but two were eaten. The remaining flies surrendered, and were taken into custody, where they will be tried by Juge Adara for first-degree assault.

Terry Attacks!

Unopened Safety-Pin.Terry, local Marshmallow Otter escaped time in jail this week after a ramapage of terror in the Rose Garden. Argon, local Centaur, forgot the rule about Terry and sharp objects and gave him a safety pin. Terry took it and began poking most anything or anyone within reach.

First he began poking Argon's ankles with it, then, when that failed to elicite the response Terry wanted, he began poking at Kinsor, local Bat. Although the poking was uncomfortable, it wasn't as harmful as it could have been.

Terry, what with being made out of marshmallow, was unable to open the safety pin. This saved Argon, Kinsor, and other folks Terry had attempted to or considered attacking from undue harm.

Local authorities refused to press charges against Terry as no harm was done. Terry has resumed taking his medication and has returned to what passes for normal.

Weekly Survey

Argon doing the survey.Argon told folks, "I'm doing a survey to be published in @Action News. The question this week is, 'When Patch O'Black, sings and dances, what song does he sing?'

  • Gilead chirps, "Hmm. Not "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." That's mine. I think...the "Memories" song from Cats."
  • Carlos says, "I dunno... the Speedy Gonzalez song?"
  • Cye says, "Stray Cat Strut"
  • Terry -- The 'Rhubarb' song.
  • Rick says, "I know, Argon, the Jellicle cat song."
  • Kinsor skriters, "o/~ Black is black, I want my baby back o/~ of course!"
  • Scruffy -- 'Ire' by Imminent Starvation. It's very easy to sing because it has no words!
  • Adara -- The question this week is, 'When Patch O'Black, sings and dances, what song does he sing?':The jellicle cats song from the play "Cats", considering he IS a jellicle cat!! :Adara gets the song stuck in her head:
  • Whitesilk telepaths, << Argon, my answer to the Survey is 'Sugar, Sugar.' >>
  • Austin says, "'All You Need Is Love.'"
  • Cyrus -- Patch O'Black sings and dances the Pencil Rain.
  • Gina_Doberman says, "Cat Scratch Fever?"
  • Cubbi says, "Jellicle song, naturally"
  • Kinsor skriters, "The one thats in his heart, of course."

  • Shoe says, "A song I guess."
  • Ba'ar growls, "Since he's a Jellicle cat..I'd say..."memory" "
  • Stripes guesses..."Um...I Was Made For Dancing"

Letters To The Editor

Writing a Letter.Dear Argon,

Are Dragon Ball Z games coming out for the X-Box? DBZ games would rule! No one is making any, and everyone would love them! Lots of people love the DBZ seies and XBox could make a ton of money. I'd sure buy them!

DBZ Fan

Dear DBZ,

So you want a three part game with 56 levels each where the characters grunt, groan and sweat for 55 levels before they even start to fight? Who's got the patience to play that? Might as well play Trapped In Quicksand on the Gamecube. At least that gives you points for not getting eaten by the Lions.

Guidelines and Procedures for Submitting Articles

Submitting a story or artwork for @Action News is easy! Just send it to newspaper@spindizzy.org or qmail or page Argon about it.
@Action News is published weekly on or after 12:01 AM Eastern Time on Sunday. Most any type of story or article will be accepted. Generally, we'd prefer things that aren't out and out lies or flames about other folks, and have a basis in the reality of SpinDizzy. Things that occur in public areas are fair game. The things reported don't have to have actually happened, (any more than anything that happens here does) but make sure you don't overstep the social boundaries and rules of interaction that we have. These are pretty broad guidelines, but we expect good sense to apply.

Thanks! Argon, Editor @Action News
