BunnyHugger says, "I'm going to say a few words and then answer questions until 7 p.m."
Beltrami nodnods and she waves to J.P.!
BunnyHugger says, "If there are sufficient questions, that is."
Beltrami nodnods.
BunnyHugger raises herself up as much as possible, resting forepaws on her podium for support, and surveys the crowd.
Skully has arrived.
Beltrami smiles to Skully.
BunnyHugger gets a signal to wait a moment.
Jimun wing-waves.
Beltrami blinks and nods?
BunnyHugger looks down at her notes briefly, then looks up, to begin. She turns her head a bit to one side, so that one of her side-facing eyes faces the crowd.
BunnyHugger says, "People of SpinDizzy."
BunnyHugger says, "I arrived on this world during a period of great personal turmoil. I had suffered a loss that I truly believed would destroy me, and I sought refuge in a place where I knew I had friends. By and by, I struggled through, and put myself back together."
BunnyHugger looks to Chitter, who nods.
Fluffy zooms in and screetches to a halt. Street luging.
Fluffy has arrived.
BunnyHugger says, "During my recovery, I decided to adopt a personal motto: 'Spero meliora; resurgam cineribus,' which means 'I hope for better things; I will rise from the ashes.' You may have seen that inscribed on the statue in Meliora Park. It is derived from the motto of the City of Detroit: 'Speramus meliora; resurget cineribus' -- 'We hope for better things; it will rise from the ashes.'"
BunnyHugger says, "It struck me, as I was building Meliora Park, that Detroit's motto is a very fitting one for SpinDizzy. As Detroit was essentially destroyed in a fire in 1805 and had to rebuild from scratch, so SpinDizzy arose from the ashes of TF&F, and thrived. But 'speramus meliora' remains true. We can always continue hoping for better things, and striving for improvement."
BunnyHugger says, "As for me, I too have found better things, even while I hope for still better. And I am grateful for the role SpinDizzy played in my journey: it has been my refuge and comfort. I am deeply indebted to this community, and that is why I want to be your Mayor."
BunnyHugger nods, evidently finished. "Thank you. I will now take questions."
Chitter flickflicks his tail.
Fuzzy says, "I have a question"
BunnyHugger says, "Yes, Fuzzy?"
Fuzzy says, "If you were on Gilligan's Island, with the rest of the castaways, which do you eat last, and why?"
Morticon has arrived.
Phoex has arrived.
Morticon enters, with Phoex walking along next to him.
BunnyHugger says, "Fuzzy, Gilligan's Island is not exactly a Dudley and Stephens situation. There appears to be ample food. I would argue that we needn't eat anyone."
Phoex waves
Beltrami smiles.
Zeta flicks her tail for a question.
Morticon has a question too!
Fuzzy says, "I see"
BunnyHugger says, "Zeta?"
Fuzzy jots that down
Zeta says, "Follow-up to that: How can we trust you to make the difficult choices in a hypothetical cannibalistic scenario of an entire planetoid if you're incapable or unwilling to make them even within the context of a small island?"
BunnyHugger says, "I tend to agree with those ethicists who hold that lifeboat ethics cases are not very informative in thinking about most ethical situations. And I suspect if it did in fact come to that, who the Mayor decided to eat would not make a great deal of difference."
BunnyHugger hastily adds, "Not that I would eat anyone."
Fluffy might.
Zeta nods and adds, "My condolences, Chitter."
Fuzzy says, "I would exercise restraint as long as possible"
Chitter keeps a mostly straight, if very hard, face.
BunnyHugger says, "I think that may be the most any of us could hope to do, Fuzzy. Now, Morticon had a question."
Morticon grins, "It's no secret I'm big on RP, whether it's public, private, or somewhere in between. Would you do anything to promote RP and other IC-ness?"
BunnyHugger says, "I think the best way to promote IC-ness is to interact with people in an IC sort of way. That encourages casual RP, which is the kind I'm best at. I find that if I start, well, interacting with people, and also saying things that are rather bizarre (since my IC history is rather bizarre), it sometimes stirs even less RP-oriented people to respond in kind."
BunnyHugger says, "However, it's impossible to make people behave IC if they're just not inclined to do so, nor make them engage in RP if they're very opposed to it. The best you can do is gently encourage and provide opportunities."
Morticon mmms and nods. He seems to be satisfied with the answer.
Beltrami smiles.
Jimun nodnods.
Chitter nods, flicking.
BunnyHugger looks around. "Any other questions?"
BunnyHugger swivels her ears so they point here and there, two directions at a time.
Fuzzy says, "I would like to hear you comment on your pro-squirrel bias."
Fuzzy says, "And your support for foundationalism"
J.P. giggles.
BunnyHugger says, "I will do that as soon as you tell me whether you've stopped beating your wife, Fuzzy."
J.P. chuckles.
BunnyHugger is smiling, though.
Azure yips, "Foundationalism?"
Fuzzy says, "Sadly, I've never married, but I plan to stop before getting engaged."
Skully beats Fluffy with a big stuffed paw.
BunnyHugger says, "Some may already know that some years ago I attempted to help a colony of squirrel slaves, Chitter among them, secure their freedom from... other devilbunnies. I believe this is what Fuzzy refers to."
Beltrami nodnods?
Morticon smirks, "And you will defend SpinDizzy from evildoers?" He crosses his arms.
BunnyHugger says, "I lived among squirrels for a long time, and tried to learn their customs and language. I have a great appreciation for squirrels, for their culture and their struggle under oppression."
BunnyHugger says, "However, this doesn't mean I am biased toward squirrels to the detriment of other species. Instead, it is evidence that I support freedom and respect for all species."
BunnyHugger says, "I will attempt to defend SpinDizzy from evildoers. I am only a little bunny, but I do have some... reserves of strength, and connections with MoralBunny and EthicsBoy."
Morticon grumbles.
Fluffy is not a horse!
Morticon says, "But squirrels make good minions! I have one, somewhere."
Chitter chitters quietly.
BunnyHugger says, "Devilbunnies think so too, but it is a violation of their autonomy to use them in such a way."
Phoex says, "How about moral ambiguousness?"
BunnyHugger says, "Oh, and I never responded about foundationalism... er... I'll have to discuss that issue with you another time, Fuzzy. Oh, what about it, Phoex?"
Zeta says, "Despite her semantic aversions, I believe the candidate's choice for 'top aide' betrays a certain respect for the efficacy of squirrel 'minions'."
BunnyHugger tilts her head, not understanding.
Morticon mms, "indeed."
BunnyHugger says, "Zeta refers to Chitter, whose abundant wisdom will be at my disposal if elected. A vote for me is also a vote for Chitter!"
Zeta says, "So you're intending to double count your votes."
Skyler says, "What if Chitter is elected, and you are not? That is a possible scenario, with write-ins, right?"
Morticon snickers.
BunnyHugger says, "Er... ah..."
Zeta [OOC] It's 7 PM. We should let her answer Phoex and one more 'real' question if someone has it.
BunnyHugger says, "I suppose it is a possible situation. Hypothetically. It isn't impossible."
Phoex [OOC] I was just tossing out a rhetorical addition to Morticon's
BunnyHugger says, "Phoex, I believe that the kinds of situations in which I am likely to intervene would not be morally ambiguous. I am an ethicist and can be counted on to use judgment."
BunnyHugger puffs up. "One more question?"
BunnyHugger says, "If anyone has one?"
Austin says, "Well ..."
BunnyHugger says, "Thank you all for coming. I hope you will give my candidacy serious consideration, those among you who are not candidates yourselves."
Morticon says, "Even candidates have to vote for someone."
BunnyHugger bows.
Morticon claps.
Chitter applauds.
Beltrami touches her chin and nods to BunnyHugger.
Skyler claps.
Findra claps politely. "Thank you, BunnyHugger! I'll see about writing this up and putting it online."

BunnyHugger comes out from behind her podium to mingle. Chitter whispers something in her ear.
